The fever

seems like my in-laws caught the fever on bling blings. they are going the 2nd route instead of getting a new one. personally, I don't like the idea of a 2nd one for various reasons.

Why you should NOT buy 2nd-hand Rollies.
1. warranty may have expired and servicing of it will add to the cost
2. you never know where the watch has been. for all you know, it may have dropped into the toilet bowl!
3. again on the lines of "thing you don't know". the watch may be "cursed" such that whoever owned it was jinxed, hence why the watch was sold.
4. finally (not the last though), the watch may be a fake unless you bought it from a reputable retailer.. again, this can only be testified when you bring it back in for servicing. (Refer to point 1 of addon costs.)

Then of course there are GOOD reasons to buy it 2nd-hand
1. It's about 10 - 15% cheaper then the real deal
2. Often you can sell the watch at close to what you bought it for (2nd hand price) making it effectively wearing the watch for FREE the whole time you owned it. (only for premium brands)
3. You don't lose the depreciation cost of getting brand new

Again, the choice to buy 2nd-hand lies in the owner. Personally, I rather pay the slight premium and get the assurance of getting the REAL deal and the joy of buying a brand new Rolex.
